Atlas Shakespeare Company
Othello

June 16–28, 2026

Outside the gilded bubble of Venice, in a liminal no-man’s-land halfway between peace and war, a storm is coming. Shakespeare’s unsettling psychological drama plunges us into a nightmare landscape where everything precious is poisoned and trust is a deadly misstep. Shore up your weak spots—if you know where they are. It’s already too late to turn back.

Atlas Shakespeare Company 's mission is to present Shakespeare's plays as they were intended to be performed: character-driven, intensely alive, and profoundly human. Like all Atlas productions, Othello uses the play’s original setting, and is intended for everyone from first-time theatergoers to Shakespeare experts.

About

We founded Atlas in a spirit of exploration and discovery, with the mission of transporting our audiences to brave new worlds by presenting Shakespeare's plays as they were intended to be performed: vivid, character-driven, exciting, funny, relatable...and profoundly human. Shakespeare's work is often regarded as stuffy or boring; we aim to provide a fresh perspective by demonstrating that these plays—in their original form, without needing to be modernized or reconceptualized—are truly for everyone.

Our productions are optimized for clear storytelling and three-dimensional characterization, informed by expert-level understanding of the text and historical context, and designed to be enjoyed by everyone from Shakespeare devotees to first-time theatergoers.

Othello is presented as part of Abrons Arts Center's Rentals program.
