I Pledge Allegiance centers around an eclectic group of students as they deal with an explosive mock trial project where they’ve been assigned to defend a man that could be likened to George Zimmerman in a case eerily similar to the murder of the young Black teenager, Trayvon Martin. Here, all that they stand for and hold dear, will be challenged.

Kendi King, director, and Veronica Hein, producer, are fellow creatives at NYU for Film and TV. We started this project as an opportunity for students who are willing to be vulnerable to share their own personal experiences to be written into the play itself - working with a team of writers to bring their own stories to life on stage within the world of the show.
