Ceramics is an intergenerational beginner ceramics class. Learners will be introduced to hand-building techniques in clay like pinching, coil-building, and slab construction and will explore their creativity through the creation of their own ceramic sculptures. At the end of the course, learners will present their artwork in Abrons’ annual spring art show.
About Alex Reynoso
Alex Reynoso, a native New Yorker, made cakes, crocheted, knitted, and spun yarn before being introduced to ceramics in college. He earned his Associate in Fine Arts/Ceramics from Kingsborough Community College in 2020.
Alex now incorporates ceramics and fiber into sculptural work and maintains a line of functional fan art tableware and smokeware. In the realm of fiber arts, Alex is a crochet pattern designer, fashion designer, and instructor. He always weaves his queerness, love for nature, Caribbean roots, and NYC upbringing into his work. He has been featured in the Michael's Made by You 2020 campaign, Crochet Now Magazine, the Winter 2018 issue of Subaru Magazine, and has contributed to PLY Magazine. He teachings fiber workshops for Harlem Needle Arts and Knitting Live NYC events.
